“Five More Minutes: An Inclusive Short Film by Cooperjob and Consorzio Oscar Romero”

Five More Minutes Hits the Big Screen

The Premiere

The premiere of Five More Minutes, the inclusive short film directed by Giuseppe Raia and produced by Cooperjob SpA and Consorzio Oscar Romero, was held yesterday at the Rosebud Municipal Cinema in Reggio Emilia.

The Idea Behind the Short Film

The project was born from a collective idea developed in the CIAK film workshop, designed for people in vulnerable situations. It is part of the social responsibility initiatives of Cooperjob SpA and Consorzio Romero.

The CIAK Film Workshop

Throughout the workshop, which ran from November 2023 to April 2024, participants had the chance to step out of their comfort zones and engage in a fully immersive creative process. They explored various aspects of audiovisual storytelling, from screenwriting and acting to cinematography and editing. The outcome? A lighthearted yet meaningful story about feeling adrift in life, featuring Carmine Fabbricatore and Giulia Pirelli as Roberto, a hopeful young actor, and his ex-girlfriend, Giulia.

"I believe this film is about learning to see ourselves and our past from new perspectives, to find the irony in life’s twists and turns."

The Social Impact

This project is a powerful example of cultural and community-driven welfare, enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable individuals while promoting social inclusion and reinforcing the right of all citizens to access Reggio Emilia’s cultural scene.

Padel in Pordenone: Inclusion and Well-being with Cooperativa Il Giglio

“When the boys were invited to participate in padel lessons, Marco [a fictional name, ed.] was going through a withdrawal phase, accepting few activities proposed by the educators. He was doubtful, but once he got involved in the padel sessions, he opened up and his motivation was reignited.”

This is how Andrea Cunego, Educational Coordinator of the Semi-Residential Service of the social cooperative Il Giglio, tells it. Il Giglio has been working for almost forty years to offer services for the well-being of people with disabilities and their families. Marco is one of the seven individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders who took part in a series of six padel lessons, the result of a network agreement between our Cooperjob Pordenone branch, the social cooperative Il Giglio, and the Amateur Sports Association X3Padel Club.

The meeting between Cooperjob and Il Giglio came about thanks to word of mouth and the well-established reputation of the social cooperative Il Giglio, which over the years has become an institution promoting the values of social inclusion and the well-being of people with disabilities. Sharing the same values, Cooperjob proposed collaborating on this sporting opportunity to discover and promote the growth of people with disabilities, beyond their disability.

“It was truly a much-appreciated initiative by both the boys and the families,” continues Andrea, “who saw the benefits of physical and recreational activity even within their homes, through the smiles and words of their children.”

It is well established that physical activity not only improves physical capabilities but also provides significant benefits at the psychological and social-relational levels.

In these six lessons, the padel court became a space where everyone could challenge themselves in situations different from the everyday, boosting self-esteem, trust in themselves and their abilities, and uncovering hidden tools to unlock ingrained behavioral dynamics.

This approach allowed educators to observe the boys’ behaviors in a context different from the usual, noting improvements and behavioral nuances often not visible.

Definition of Sport, from the European Sports Charter

Sport is understood as any form of physical activity that, through organized or non-organized participation, aims to express or improve physical and mental condition, develop social relationships, or achieve results in competitions of all levels.

FLOR@WORK: An Innovative Job Placement Model in Florence

FLOR@WORK, 2nd Edition

Florence is pioneering a new model to support individuals transitioning from social services to employment. At its core, it involves employability assessment, personalized planning, timely interventions, collaboration with local organizations, and, ultimately, innovative governance.

Now in its second year, the Flor@Work project—a Hub for Job Placement—focuses on these key aspects. Funded by the FIS of the Department of Civil Service, the project is led by the City of Florence Social Services Directorate in partnership with Consorzio Mestieri Toscana, Cooperjob ApL, the University of Florence (DISEI), and Proteina SCS.

Flor@Work introduced innovation by engaging new public and private stakeholders, testing a savings accounting mechanism, and laying the groundwork for a progressive impact finance system linked to this model.

A key aspect of the project was engaging stakeholders in a cultural and organizational learning process focused on measuring the impact of active policy interventions. This shift in perspective—from output to outcome—meant moving beyond simply assessing the direct results of actions to evaluating the actual changes they produced.

Cooperjob, through its Florence branch, initially concentrated on promotional efforts among local businesses and stakeholders. This was followed by strategic networking with Social Cooperatives and Third Sector Parties. By acquiring and analyzing partner databases, along with those from the Mestieri Toscana Consortium, Cooperjob developed a structured plan for outreach and company visits across the Florence province. These visits allowed for a firsthand assessment of direct and indirect job placement opportunities while also facilitating the presentation of the most suitable candidate profiles.

The innovative governance model tested within the Flor@Work project has opened new avenues for collaboration. However, to ensure long-term impact, it remains crucial to establish a centralized structure within the City of Florence with dedicated resources. This would be key to fostering a cohesive and sustainable approach to work inclusion policies, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of these initiatives.
